VSPO: A portal to the HGO

Goal is to provide quick access to the complete HGO inventory of products and services

Many selection routes based on SPASE terms; any order

Quick lists of possibilities (with date or other restrictions applied)

“Google-like” search is often the quickest route

Restriction is on list and on all other possible restrictions (“no routes to nothing”)

Many routes to data: WIND MFI and SOHO LASCO examples

All information near the surface

Obviously named products; complete (restricted) lists always available

Info on SC, instruments, products, people; more details often available

Quick routes to real data (“three clicks to data”); generally very effective

Use existing services

Anonymous ftp

Get Data: Accessors of many kinds

Registry information produced, held, and maintained separately

VSPO uses a translated subset, but delivers full registry

OAI, eXist registries: standard methods for registry query

Browse plots, movies for overviews and quick insights

Quick orbits

Where are they?

What SC are available?

What time range is possible?

Access to underlying SPASE metadata

Links to useful general services (e.g., NASA ADS; LWS space weather)

Focus on Header level information from SPASE leads quickly to useful access to large numbers of products and services.
